A widower, a lonely little girl, and a housekeeper who brings music back into their home — Whoopi Goldberg makes Corrina, Corrina a gentle, moving story.
Released in 1994, Corrina, Corrina stars Goldberg as Corrina Washington, hired to look after Molly, played by Tina Majorino, after her mother’s death. Molly has stopped speaking, and Corrina, with patience, humour and songs, helps her find her voice again.
Goldberg plays Corrina with warmth and dignity, and her relationship with Molly’s father, played by Ray Liotta, is handled with sensitivity, set against the racial attitudes of the late 1950s.
It is a signature dramatic role: Goldberg as a caregiver, a musician and a woman who heals a family by simply being present.
