Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967) – Katharine Hepburn

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967) gave Katharine Hepburn her second Academy Award for Best Actress, as Christina Drayton, a liberal mother whose beliefs are tested when her daughter brings home a Black fiancé.

Opposite Spencer Tracy in his final film, Hepburn played Christina with warmth and conviction. The film, directed by Stanley Kramer, dealt directly with interracial marriage at a time when the subject was still controversial in American cinema.

Hepburn’s performance was deeply personal, as Tracy died shortly after filming. Her final scenes, in which Christina speaks about love and marriage, remain among the most moving in her career.
