Mogambo (1953) – Grace Kelly

As Linda Nordley, a prim Englishwoman who arrives in Africa and finds herself drawn to a safari guide, Kelly earned her first Academy Award nomination.

Mogambo (1953), directed by John Ford and starring Clark Gable and Ava Gardner, follows a love triangle in the African bush. Kelly plays Linda’s cool reserve and quiet passion with great elegance, and her scenes with Gable are the film’s most refined.

She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, and the film confirmed her as a star of the first rank.
