“One More Night” (1985) is the quiet counterpart to “Sussudio” on the same album. It is a ballad about wanting one more evening together, not a grand reunion and not a farewell. Collins keeps the vocal close and unhurried, and the arrangement leaves room around it, so the request at the centre of the song sounds personal rather than dramatic. That small scale is the song’s strength. It does not try to explain a whole relationship; it asks for a single night, and lets the listener fill in the rest.

In the run of No Jacket Required, the song also shows how Collins could move between a fast pop hit and a slow ballad without changing his voice. The same plain-spoken delivery that makes “Sussudio” feel direct makes “One More Night” feel honest. Both songs trust the listener to hear the feeling without being told how to feel it.
