“Jump (For My Love)” (1983), also from Break Out, is a song of encouragement: jump into love, do not hold back, take the leap. June Pointer sings lead with a bright, driving energy, and the song’s momentum never lets up. Where “Automatic” was cool and controlled, “Jump” is warm and urgent, and the two songs together show the range of the album that carried the group to its mid-1980s peak.

The song has lasted as a feel-good record because its message is simple and its delivery is full of conviction. It does not argue for love; it celebrates it, in a chorus that invites the listener to move. That directness, paired with the sisters’ harmony, is why the song still works on a dance floor and on the radio.
