If Back in Black was AC/DC’s tribute, “You Shook Me All Night Long” was its celebration — pure, uncut good-time rock and roll. Brian Johnson’s lyric is a gleeful tall tale, delivered over one of the band’s bounciest riffs, and it became one of the biggest and most enduring hits of their career.

The song was among the first written for the album in the Bahamas, and it showed Johnson could do more than fill Bon Scott’s shoes — he could bring his own brand of cheeky swagger. It reached the top 40 in both America and Britain and has been a setlist fixture ever since.

Few songs capture a band having fun quite like this one. Decades later, when the opening riff rings out in a stadium, the whole place shakes along — proof that some parties really never end.
